Interplay between the Coulomb explosion and vicinage effects studied using H2 molecules under channeling conditions

چکیده
The aim of this work is to investigate how the mean energy loss and straggling due to H2 + molecules interacting with silicon are affected by the Coulomb explosion and vicinage effects. To that end, a SIMOX-type sample made up of O and with an appropriate O marker grown over the surface of crystalline Si was employed, allowing to carry out the measurements through the O p , N resonant reaction at 151.2 keV under channeling and random directions. The results show that the mean energy loss associated with the Coulomb explosion and vicinage effects are similar and amount each to about 2% of the total mean energy loss. The comparison of the energy straggling obtained for molecular beams at random and the well-aligned 100 direction shows a larger value for the aligned case, which is interpreted as a result of the Coulomb explosion along the channel direction. The experimental results are also discussed in terms of Monte Carlo simulations.

The influence of the Coulomb explosion on the energy loss of H2 and H3 molecules channeling along the Si 〈100〉 direction
In this work we have measured the contribution of the Coulomb explosion to the electronic stopping power of molecular hydrogen ions (H+2 and H + 3 ) channeling along the Si 〈100〉 direction. To this end, we have used a SIMOX target, consisting of a crystalline 〈100〉 Si with a buried layer of SiO2. The measurements of the energy loss of H, H+2 and H + 3 have been carried out using the standard ch...

متن کاملFragmentation of H2-molecules studied with laser-induced Coulomb explosion imaging and femtosecond pump-probe experiments
We report on the experimental realisation of time-resolved coincident Coulomb explosion imaging of H2-fragmentation in 10 W/cm laser fields. Combining a high-resolution ‘reaction microscope’ and a fs pump-probe setup, we map the motion of wave packets dissociating via oneor two-photon channels, respectively, and observe two region of enhanced ionization in accordance with earlier theoretical pr...
متن کاملUltrafast Coulomb explosion of a diiodomethane molecule induced by an X-ray free-electron laser pulse.
Coulomb explosion of diiodomethane CH2I2 molecules irradiated by ultrashort and intense X-ray pulses from SACLA, the Japanese X-ray free electron laser facility, was investigated by multi-ion coincidence measurements and self-consistent charge density-functional-based tight-binding (SCC-DFTB) simulations. The diiodomethane molecule, containing two heavy-atom X-ray absorbing sites, exhibits a ra...
متن کاملExperimental Study of Masonry Structure Under Impact Loading and Comparing it with Numerical Modeling Results via Finite Element Model Updating
Given the sophisticated nature of the blast phenomenon in relation to structures, it is of significance to accurately investigate the structure behavior under blast loads. Due to its rapid and transient nature, blast loading is one of the most important dynamic loadings on the structures. Since masonry materials are widely used as the partition and bearing walls in the existing and newly-built ...
